that's how I think my forza 2 disk cracked. It was hot many times I took it out, and it doing that many times would obviously make it crack.

Re: Breakdown of XBOX 360 Design Flaw By Japan

So, last night, I was trying to play NCAA and it kept freezing up while I was recruiting. I restarted and tried again, only to have it freeze up pretty quickly. Finally on the 4th time, the screen went crazy and a buzzing noise started coming from the speakers. Then I saw the 3 rings of death. So, I unplugged the 360, waited 30 minutes and tried to play All Pro Football. I was able to get through a game no problem. I popped NCAA back in and spent 20 minutes recruiting. No issues. I assume that it's only a matter of time before the 360 dies completely. Is this correct? Has anybody ever had this happen? I'm hoping that it holds off from dying for a little while longer. At least to maximize my chances of getting a 360 that has the design improvements.

I definitely take good care of my 360. I never leave a game in the tray when it's off, it's on a shelf that is completely open on all sides with plenty of ventilation, it's in my basement, and I don't play games for more than a few hours a couple nights a week at most. I don't know how I could be more careful with it. I guess I could never turn it on.

Sad part is, the system is still cool on the outside, but the inside, just inpales heat...its wierd...my system was cold on the outside, but that disc was hot.

So I know what you mean...they have a different cooling fan similiar to the intercooler that won't tear up your system..at Movie Trading company and its 17 dollars...try that, its powered USB..

***Warning... apologist spin***

Shady business on MS, part...but where would the 360 be had they waited and launched alongside the other two? *** out, IMO. Not excusing them, but if the 360 never got off the ground, our gaming experience would have taken a pretty big hit, and dev support for the machine (and it's graphical and online advantages) would have been alot more tenuous. MS took a risk, and it slapped them in the mouth to the tune of a 1,000,000,000 bucks. I know it's different for everyone, like my homie Monk who lives in Asia and can't readily take it back...or for the people who have had to wait on the MS repair system numerous times, but for me personally, if I weigh the 1/2 hour it took to run my crapped out box up to BB and get back home vs. the hours of 360-exclusive enjoyment I've gotten out of it, I still think I came out ahead.

Way ahead.

Again, milage may vary.

a lot of the 1st year 360 games could have been fine on the xbox. They killed a decent game console to rush out a poorly designed console just to get a year head start.

If people question how many of the 100 million or whatever ps2's are still working, you can probably ask the same for the nearly 12 million 360's out there. I wonder how big of a lead it actually has over the ps3 and wii with all these consoles dying on people.

Good points. I don't think Oblivion, GOW, GRAW or DR could have happened on the old box, but I still see your point. Still, I think MS would have been buried by the PS3 and Wii had they lanched in the same window. That headstart was vital. You wouldn't have seen even a 1/4 of the Sony-exclusive defections in that scenario, IMO, and we'd be stuck with PSN as the most heavily supported online venue. Yuck.

I'd stop short of saying I'm glad they did what they did, but I can definitely live with how it all turns out, aand I'm sure that if the current trends pan out, we will all benefit greatly in the long run by 360 being the most developers lead platform for development vs. the Cell's complex architecture...

Re: Breakdown of XBOX 360 Design Flaw By Japan

HMcCoy, I definitely do appreciate your post. I'd hate to see the 360 get buried by the PS3. Honestly, I think that it would have been much closer with the two powerhouses with the Wii being the primary fun toy of most. If they both came out within the same time window, I might have waited a while to see which one I was more interested in. Personally, the PS3 might have swayed me only because they have the hard drive out of the box and the exclusives might have went the way of the rising sun. I guess all this does work for the good. I got more than enough gaming out of my lower than cheap games and that great piece of fun I keep in the room. Almost a solid 2 years it'll be I believe. I'm glad for every moment I see those amazing videos only to know that I can play them when they release and be satisfied. Also am glad that I experienced the upgrade of the sports gaming on these. Design flaws are being worked out which is good and I still have the warranty. I just hope that the system doesn't crap out on me on day 1081 from when my system was registered as purchased. It's slowly but surely coming up.......
