apparently in asia gaming is a different monster. every couple of months one of these asian kids falls out and dies on a "gaming binge" I could see if they were all playing DDR for 3 days or something cause I knoe they take that serious over there but they are like playing everquest. its like cant they eat and get a drink or something.

This would never happen here because there would be lawsuits filed by their family for the cafe's negligence.

Anyway, I read from Game Informer that PC gaming is HUGE in South Korea, so huge that console gaming is just a niche. They were saying China could be the next huge market. In Korea, gamers that win competitions are treated as celebraties. In US, the guys that win the Madden Challenge are usually called the geeks and/or cheesers that they really are.

yup, i have seen it for myself. they have dedicated pc gaming channels on korean cable. and pc bangs(cafes) are all over the place.
