im thinking about getting the Elite so I dont have to worry about the red rings of death everytime I play.....

am I still at risk with the Elite?

There is always a chance of overheating, but the Elite uses a new heat dispersion method I think which is supposed to really lower the odds. Nothing is guaranteed...it is hardware, after all!

my elite sounds like a fighter jet.

it is ridiculously loud.

I just bought one that was manufactured in July and I don't really notice the sound at all. I do sit about 8 feet away though.
