If true - complete bull****... but you know what? If the company is going to treat him like that after 10 years, then he's better off without them...

He should walk out of that place holding his two middle fingers high and proud.

This is not surprising

I have always suspected that games with bigger marketing budgets get away with a lot when it comes to reviews. I think this effect has become even more prominent recently. I'll throw out Madden 06 at IGN as an example- that game was a steaming pile and it still got an 8.0 there. There are countless examples but the bottom line is that a lot of publishers have far too much say in what happens in game reviews.

That's the problem- I guarantee its not just a Gamestop thing either. This is why I always take reviews with a grain of salt. Behind most reviews are probably similar stories. What videogame site doesn't have egregiously large ads of some game on it?

game spot!!

as for sites and ads, there's nothing wrong with game companies buying ad space on gaming websites. It's quite logical actually. Even Eidos lobbying them for better reviews is fine, it happen with our government all the time. Gamespot is supposed to be one of the big review sites, like IGN, so you'd think they have more restrain and credibility than this.

It's just sad that a big site like gamespot felt like they have to tell people to give favorable reviews to an Eidos game due to ad revenue. Eidos has more medicore games than good ones to their credit. It's not like they're an EA, Sega, or even Activision.

There are a ton of sites out there doing borderline stuff. I stopped reading IGN a long time ago, and rarely looked at Gamespot. Look at the tons of "credible" high-score reviews that were released on the eve of Madden 08. I still can't get over TeamXBox saying it's gameplay was a 9.8. Unfortunately consumers will still flock to these sites, long as they're being told what they want to hear. IGN's credibility should've been shot down a long time ago with the ridiculous job they've done w/their sports games reviews

This is why i always wondered why madden was getting 9.0 and 8.7 when we all know that's BS. I dont trust any sites anymore. It shows u how much BS goes on..
