Question about PS3 Blu Ray player...

Hey guys. I have been thinking about picking up a PS3 lately, mainly for the Blu Ray player and The Show. I was wondering though, I haven't read up much on Blu Ray players, but I remember reading that after a while, the recent Blu Ray players would not be able to play Blu Ray movies that come out in the future. Is this the same for the PS3 player, or will it be able to play any and all Blu Ray movies that come out?

Nope, the PS3 is virtually future proof. Best BD player on the market.

I don't think the problem is that some current players won't play future BD's but that they won't be able to properly access certain feature extras such as director commentary that can be shown and heard while you're watching the movie like a PIP. If they made just watching future movies incompatible with future discs then you would have alot of pissed off people who spent big money for these initial players.

Am I correct in assuming that the PS3 is future proof because all firmware updates can go thru it unlike the other players?

I would assume so as well. Having a PS3 has a BR player is a huge advantage because of all the firmware updates that are released.

Some profile 1.0 players (early players) wont be able to play some profile 2.0 discs at all not just the special features. The ps3 is future proof because of firmware updates.

So if you play a new movie that has a new profile then it would automatically install the firmware update when you first load it like they do with games. I sure hope so.
