question about ring of death/fire
I never bought a warranty for the 360 so i was wondering if i can send it in to microsoft for a new one or if i have to buy a new one.

If your issue is the red rings than you don't need a special warranty as Microsoft gives you three years I think. I just had mine replaced and I do not have a warranty.

No, just call customer support and they'll have you go through some tests. Once they determine that you really do have the 3 red rings, they'll give you a reference number and send you the empty box for you to place your dead 360 in, and they pay for shipping. I called them last Saturday and got the box on Wednesday.

That is right. MS gives you three years, if it is the red rings of death. If you bought your console within the last three years, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and tell them what the deal is. They'll send you a coffin and take care of it
