I don't think so. I think you just got unlucky... and this problem isn't related to overheating.

These are the issues regarding this code:

Quote:
- A faulty sector on the internal hard drive.
- A bad firmware install.
The biggest difference with the PS3 and any other console is how much stuff you install on there. Every game, demo, theme, firmware, is always installed. This in turn my might create a corrupt database. Turning off your game while saving would probably increase the chances of getting this error. Other than that, I don't see what else you can do since this error code is HDD related.

Same here. I did the same thing with my 360 when I had one. Hence, the free exchange for my PS3.

However, wouldn't you lose your HDD on PS3 and all of your game files/saves? I actually purchased the 20GB HDD for the 360 at launch so I never had to deal with HDD issue.

If I was you, I would just reformat the HDD anyway. Save all you files on a flash drive and do the long reformat. If it anything is corrupted, maybe this will fix it.

You can back everything onto a flash drive or some other card.

So much for that. Still all sorts of freezing and loading errors. Oh well, just gotta wait for the coffin now.

I know the last firmware update was like 130 MB. That's alot of stuff to download and install, so things could go wrong.

Wow, that is a lot.

One thing that amazed me about the 360 was all updates were downloaded and installed within seconds.

The large firmware update was downloaded, installed, under a minute. Some impressive stuff.
