My elite system which I bought last August got the three red rings this past week and I've already shipped it to Texas for repair. Thankfully I have a PS3 to fall back on. I've switched most of my library to PS3 titles because the whole red ring situation pissed me off. I like the XBL marketplace and the achievement system but the reliability of the console has me hesistant to fully support them in the future. *end rant*
For the OP, as someone else posted $90 is cheaper than $299 for a new console. Either one you pick you still never no which will last longer. It's sad that consumers have to worry about whether their console will break if they turn it on to use it. I'm hoping Microsoft will announce something at E3 addressing their console reliability but I doubt it. Good luck bro.
