I have accumulated about 40 GB of stuff on my 60 GB PS3 and I need to run a backup.

I am just looking for any tips from someone who has done this, can I just use an external HD with the backup utility included in the PS3 firmware?

just hookup your external HDD got to back up and your done, it takes a bit but that all you need to do.
