I was wondering if any fellow OS'er has upgraded their HDD for the PS3?

I was just asking because I am possibly looking into upgrading the 40 gig HDD of my PS3 and swapping it for a bigger HDD.

I was wondering also, for those that did upgrade their PS3 HDD's, what HDD did you use and how big (how many gigs) was the hard drive you used?

Finally, since the upgrade of the HDD, do you have any problems with it (performance issues, overheating, freezing, etc.)

Get a Western Digital laptop HD and you'll be fine.

I got a 320 gig from new egg this past xmas for 129.00. Becareful with the screws they tear easy, i would suggest using some pliers to loosen the screws and then use a screw driver.

Thanks, Backbreaker. I'll be sure to be careful when I install the new HDD. 320 gig? Holy crap, that's about 2x as much storage space as the new PS3 SKU model will have!

Does it run well? Any overheating or noise issues?

me too,

, the screws got strip any who because they stink, so I used screws from a desktop HD that was not longer working and they don't strip and work like a charm.

I stripped one of my screws...ended up working but was a pain in the *** to fix.

ok, so when u are switching hard drives and you are backing up your old hard drive, what exactly are u putting it on? what are u backing it up to?
