I've got the opportunity to sell my 360 for a PS3. Should I do it?

These disks could potentially hold up to 3.9 terabytes, or 39,000 GB. A dual layer Blu-ray disk only hold 50 GB. HVD also has like a a data transfer rate of 1 GB per second, far better than blu-ray could probably hope.

But again, who knows when this format will become relevant for consumers.

Own both. 360 is a fantastic console, and so is the PS3.

You can't discount the Blu Ray ability of the PS3. If you want to watch hi-def movies that you can rent/buy from a store, this is a great feature. Built-in wifi is nice as well.

I won both also. Actually we have two 360's, two PS3's and a Wii in my house. The 360 is a piece of crap. I can all but guarantee that if the 360 didn't come out first it would be all but dead now. What a dreadfully constructed console it is.

Like everyone said, it depends what you use ya system for.
Here is me opinions on both system.

Online: PSN < LIVE IMO you cant beat LIVE, I have both PS3 and 360 and I think PSN is a bad system of online, very painfully slow downloads. Plus hardly anyone has mikes and etc. Just a laggy mess IMO. PSN is free and LIVE does cost but I perfer LIVE.

Media uses: The PS3 will probably win. I like the netflixs update coming to the 360 but as of now the PS3 wins hands down.

Games : The PS3 and 360 can compare to one another here. There are games that look beter on both systems but 360 has more variety than PS3 IMO. I mainly get 360 games because of LIVE but if ya are not planning on playing online than just select the exclusives that you like the best. MGS, PGR, Little Big Planet, etc. I kept my PS3 for Final Fantasy but now that it is coming for the 360 also I havent touched my PS3.

This is a mater of oppinion but I love the Achievements on the 360. For me it gives me more playability out of each game. You replay a game more so you can unlock them. I know the PS3 is suppost to come out with trophies but it doesn't interest me as much as achievements system.

Break Downs: I personaly had 2 broke 360 since the release. The 3 year extended waranty for RROD helps. The PS3 never gave me a problem but I got it a year ago and hardly turn it on.

I have a 360 elite and ps3 and I hate paying for the online! Which imo isn't any different except more people online with the 360.

I like the ps3 exclusive,free online,and love blue ray.

Xbox online is slightly better for now but that's really about it other then gow2 coming out

PS3 exclusives are NOT as good a the 360, IMO. there are several, but the exlusives for the 360 are very very solid and support for the 360 and exclusive are building support. halo, mass effect, fable 2, gears of war, tales of vesperia (all RPGs for that matter), Dead or Alive series, Lost Odyssey, etc. most sports games run slightly quicker on the 360 as well. developers openly complain that the PS3 is a beast to program for and many of the companies that no one dreamed would port games to the 360 or make 360 exclusives are doing so. even MGS4 is rumored to be getting an arrival on the 360.

and for anyone that says the PS3 is even or nearly even with the 360 for online play, you outta be shot. the 360 is so far superior for online play it's not even funny. the ps3 makes getting online with your friends pain the butt. every game is different and half the time it's impossible to figure how to get online and get connected or send invites. their invite system is tedious most of the time. there's no private chat IN game for you and a friend. the headsets that come with the 360, albeit wired are killer. you can mute or turn the volume up quickly and easily and you have no idea how nice that is. constantly checking if your blu ray headset is attached, activated, etc gets tedious, let me tell you.

overall the media advantage of the ps3 is great. blu rays are a thing of beauty. the only advantage that the 360 has here is that it seems more videos are able to played via through the media libraries. i have never had a divx/xvid movie that doesn't play through the 360, but it's very common that a movie won't play on the ps3. my friends and i all have this complaint. also, add that game saves are EASY on the ps3. you can pull any game save down, stick it on a USB drive, put it in your ps3 and transfer it over. boom. seconds. you can also transfer other data via the usb ports and change themes for free quickly and easily on the ps3 (even create your own easily).

all that being said, i own all 3 major systems, and the PS3 is starting to pull ahead for me because it's STABLE. i don't believe i'll get a RROD from the ps3 (already had ONE on the 360). the media capabilities are better on the PS3. the majority of gamers prefer (as do i now) the PS3 controller. i don't get disk read errors on my ps3 (ALL of my friends and i do with the 360 and many many games). and there are constant updates and additions via firmware. shoot, the PS3 already has several fully downloadable games and socom is set to drop in 2 weeks time (no single player option and fully downloadable).

oh, and being able to charge your controller through a STANDARD mini-usb cable is killer. no rechargeable batteries needed (go PS3!!!!!!!!!). there's also the fact that you can quickly and easily upgrade the HDD in the ps3 too. a 120gb HDD on the 360 is gonna run you $200. you can buy ANY size for the ps3 and put it in. in fact, it not only doesn't void your warranty, it's in the instruction manual how to do it. i chimpanzee could do it. another win for the ps3 there as well.

so yeah..... i have long defended the 360 and said it's a superior system, but i'm quickly moving to the other side. if the ps3 online network and multiplayer capabilities were even, this would be a no-contest.
