Re: Thumb pain - Gamer side affect!

Well, I picked up NBA2K9 this week and I'm already feeling the pain!

I guess the videogame genes don't run in my family.

Re: Thumb pain - Gamer side affect!

I have a permanent scar on the lower face of my thumb from so many blisters as a kid. Its small, but I wear it with pride.

NBA 2k is harder on the thumb than other games. Mine is sore this morning, but I may have jammed it playing real basketball last night.

Re: Thumb pain - Gamer side affect!

It sounds weird now but I'm sure in the future, 20-30 years down the road when gamers our age, late 20s, early 30s, start developing things like this as senior citizens I'm sure game and console developers will take this into consideration and come out with better controllers, etc more suited for people with reduced mobility. I mean many gamers who arent even middle aged have been at the habit for 20 years, that wont change as I get older and go into the home, I doubt it will for others. But yah, joint pain reducing video game time would suck.

Hahah, yes! In fact that's what my friends and I still call it "Genesis thumb".

The game I got the most pain from playing was "The Bigs", for some reason I would press the pitch buttons really hard, especially fastball, why I have no idea... it was like the little kid moving to the left in a racing game while he turns. So after like 4-5 days of playing The Bigs, so addicting...I serously had the WORST pain in my hand. I could NOT play the game for a few days because it hurt so much.

Haha.. Yeah, I can definitely see myself playing video games with a bunch of other old dudes in a retirement home years from. We'll be struggling to hear each other on our headsets while playing halo or something.
