I used my memory card. Transferred my main files over, took me about 30 minutes for the big stuff.

This stinks... of awesomeness.

Nice upgrade.... but they should just phase out the core system already. Holding their platform back. Let's be honest here: The core system is simply there for the gamer who has a dead 360 and they want a new one at a cheaper price at this point.

Well...I got the okay from the wife and I'll be picking up an Elite after work today. I guess for now, I'll transfer my frequently used files via a memory card. I'm guessing I should probably recover my Gamertag on the new console first, right?

I think you can just move your gamertag over to your memory card.

Alright...I'm officially ready for the New Xbox Experience. I picked up a 360 Elite today, replacing my aging console and the 20 gig hard drive that came with it. I used a memory card to transfer all of my game saves and smaller files. Everything else, I redownloaded using MS's DRM transfer tool. It was pretty simple to do.

Only thing now is I gotta re-borrow Rock Band from my co-worker so I can get all of those songs back on my console. Each one would fill up my memory card and I am not about to transfer 50+ songs, one at a time, on a memory card!

This damn thing is quiet as hell though...that was the first thing I noticed. I hit the power button to turn it on for the first time and thought it didn't turn on...I literally didn't hear anything, lol.

And thanks for the advice on the extended warranty. I bought the 2-year deal from Best Buy for $59.99. Well worth it, in my opinion, especially considering how easy it is to use, should I need it.
