I just don''t get this, why is Sony failing so bad?

Should us PS3 owners be worried, I love the PS3.

Bad economy.

Competitors: $199 for the 360 and $249.99 for the Wii.

PS3: $399.99

Simple. No reason to be worried though unless you're a stock holder which you aren't.

I'm just saying, Sony would never give on the PS3, Right?

I would think since the Wii has been a big hit since day one and the 360's $199 price tag thats why those have seen such success. I personally dont see anything on the horizon for 360 to captivate gamers (although I am guilty of purchasing a 360 for my son this past Christmas). Same with the Wii - except for Japan, seems like they will play anything. I am hoping Sony is close to making a profit on the PS3 and then lowers the price and starts advertising. It has been kinda behind the shadows since its launch maybe the uninformed consumer will think its a new system.

Good, maybe they will eventually lower the price and I might finally consider picking one up.

Yep. The costs to make a PS3 in 06 were around $900, now they're around $400 which is big for Sony. They'll take they're losses this season and rebound later on with a price cut.

As far as Sony folding on the PS3, I would say it is highly doubtful. Anything is possible with business but it would be really surprising not to see a PS4. And bad I would add for all gamers. I wouldn't worry about it FF.

It's just interesting how Sony was the industry leader for over a decade, but has managed to lose all the money it made from their playstation consoles in less than 3 years with the ps3. MS is billions in the hole with the xbox consoles, and you don't hear anything about them exiting the console business.

The economy is bad, and of the three console makers, Sony is the weakest. They can't even afford to eat a price drop now, so they were non competitive this holiday. They'll either run with the ps3 for awhile regardless, or the ps4 will come earlier and be designed cheaper with the same ps3 technology.

All of Sony's undoing is their own fault and underestimating their $600 price tag to the eyes of consumers, along with blu ray not being the cash cow they bragged about
