Best Games For PS3

Hey guys, I'm extremely excited. Finally going to upgrade to the next generation of gaming with a PS3. It was a tough choice between XBOX 360 and PS3, but I decided to move to the Sony console after having owned an XBOX in the old generation.

Now I need to decide what games I'm going to start off my PS3 gaming days with. I have enough money to get 2 games, but feel free to recommend more games for future purchases.

I'm into first person shooters and sports games mostly. I think I'm going to hold off on my sports games purchases for a bit though because I still very much enjoy playing games on my original XBOX. I've also decided to get Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as one of my games. I've played it on the PC, but I enjoy the console version a lot more. I've also played COD5: WAW a lot and decided that I'm more of a COD4: MW guy. Though COD5: WAW may be a future purchase.

Other then that, I'm looking at Resistance 2, Fallout 3, Killzone 2 (eventually!), SOCOM: Confrontation, Mirror's Edge, and LittleBigPlanet. But definitely feel free to recommend something that I haven't looked into too much.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift......amazing game and my most played as of right now. Some people see some problems with it, but so far I don't have any. Just a fun and crazy offroad game with much more meat than the first Motorstorm.

My whole family is addicted to Little Big Planet. The game is way better than I thought it would be.

I know it is probably not on your list but I extremely recomend Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction. The most fun I have had on the PS3 with a Game. As for a sports game, if you are a fan of Baseball, The Show is a must buy. As for shooters you can look into Uncharted Drakes Fortune and Ratchet and Clank (Both are 3rd person but completely different from one another) Ratchet is just mindless fun while Uncharted goes into the more serious 3rd person shooting game. I dont recomend Resistance 1 and Resistance 2 because to me they just got repetitive and old after the first couple of missions.

I may add to this later if anything else pops into my head. I also set Links into each games name for you to look into.

Good choice on the PS3 and Call of Duty. Uncharted is also a good one to pick up, and I love Burnout Paradise.

I have a nice list now for potential buys. I think I'm going to go with LittleBigPlanet along with COD4 to start, though. If Killzone 2 was out, I'd get that in a heartbeat though, it looks sick.

[EDIT] Hey, just a side question if anyone knows the answer. I'm looking to get the $350, used 40 gig PS3. Does that come with a controller? Also, does it come with an ethernet cable as well? I could go wireless, but my plan is to go wired. Lastly, any other goodies that come with it?

It should come with a DualShock 3 controller, no ethernet cable though. The nice thing as far as controllers go, is you can pretty much use any USB controller (I actually use one of my controllers from my PS2 because I have a PS2 to USB adapter I bought for my PC). I am going wireless and haven't noticed any issues so far. It also only includes a composite cable, so you will need to pick up either HDMI or component if you want to go HD.

I believe it's a pretty commonly used PC controller. Hardly use it. But that would be so sweet if it worked. Saved a good chunk of money. I was planning on using the controller they provide, then borrowing a controller from my brother (he has 2) if I wanted to play with someone.

I just Google'd it and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I'll have to test it out myself. But it looks like it works for you.

Yeah, unfortunately, I'm only playing on a standard definition TV. That's my next purchase. A medium size HD TV would be perfect and would bring out the true power of this system.
