    Is my PS3 Effed

I go to play a game on the PS3 tonight and I can't get the games to load. As if the PS3 isn't reading the disc. A coule of weird things happened. The first time I turned it on I got a message saying an HDMI cord has been recognized. I've had the HDMI plugged it for for over a year, not sure why it said that.

So I realize the game is loading and turn of the system. I turn it back on and get a message that the Hard drive database was going to be restored. It did some stuff and I got back to the regular menu. I'm not sure what it did. Seemed like all of the saved files were still there. I tried to load a game again and nothing. I've never had this problem before.

    What should I do?

    Thanks

Try holding the power button on the front of the ps3 while its off until you hear the second set of beeps let go of the button and it should bring up a menu try restoring your files.

I would transfer all of your save files onto a USB drive. Wouldn't want to lose those.

Maybe your Blu-Ray drive is dead?

Do those burn out quickly? The sad thing is I hardly play the thing compared to when I had the PS2. The baby came in Nov. 2007 and I have a hard time finding time to play games. I've only have had it since July 2007.

Can you play any PSN content? Is it just the disc-based stuff that doesn't work? Try downloading a demo to check this if you don't have one.

Just trying to isolate the problem...

Yes, I can play games/demos I've downloaded and saved on the hard drive.

A friend of mine just had this issue happen.

The Blu-Ray drive went on his system.
