Not really. Just go take a poop or make a sandwich (not at the same time!) while it installs. An extremely small "price" to pay for short load times and the other advantages that come with installs.

Yeah, it may be annoying, but we'll have this issue until we get some sort of storage media that has a relatively quick access time. Games push the limit and having to access the disk for time critical stuff slows everything down (it's faster accessing the hard drive).

I don't think it is stupid at all, if anything it is necessary.

Look at all the data and information stored on games these days VS games of the past. It takes a lot of work to stream all this data smoothly and keep decent loading times. This is where HDD installs come in.

It also makes it much easier on the developer. Also puts less wear and tear on the drive so I'm all for it.

Would you rather swap discs or install once and use one disc?

Me I have been playing hd drive games since my ps2. I find it more effective at loading and game stability as well. A small scrath on the disc and a game is toast.

Sure you have limits at what can be installed but go through and delete the game data for games you no longer have or play that often. Unfortunately I had to do this with my 60 gb ps3 and not for my 160. But if I run out of space again I may just buy a new 500 gb hard drive and be happy that I get the convience of faster load times, more content, add ons, and game saves. Heck I use my ps3 and store movies for the kids so I don't ruin her favorite DVD's.
