You mean like how most games already compress audio on DVD? Having gigs and gigs of uncompressed commentary audio is a nice feature to tout for people with the setups for it, but it's also like comparing a mp3 to a factory pressed CD for a lot of people. How much do you think they have to cut out while compressing the same commentary files for the psp and ps2 versions?

In my opinion, both consoles have ceilings and limitations to get through and developer talent will get them through it

The developers. Again, I pointed to the fact that the developers don't have any real gain in touting to me, personally, that their audio would not fit on a DVD.

It's more than compressing audio. Now you're making claims the assumption it's uncompressed; I never said that. In fact, I even pointed out that even with compression, you're making allowances.

The PSP and the PS2 don't have nearly the same amount of commentary. Play them all and it's glaringly obvious.

Oh I see. Well my sentiment still stands. A business interest trumps making sports games up to par as we've come to expect. It's not unreasonable for a developer to tout the capacity benefits of bluray when there is a financial incentive to do so.

I respect your opinion. I can understand personal doubt, I just can't agree when someone makes it seem like there is no possibility that they truly have no personal investment in it.

To suggest that having the extra space afforded by a medium such as Blu Ray would offer no real advantage for game development is laughable. In the case of The Show, one need only play the PS3 version then switch to the PS2 or PSP version. Aside from the commentary, I know the PSP version is absent some features (a fully-fleshed out franchise mode, for one) and both have a heavy reduction in animations. I'm willing to give the developers the benefit of the doubt when they say they couldn't port that to a DVD. I think if they had to they could, but there would be some sacrifices somewhere. A better example is Konami and Metal Gear Solid 4. Hideo Kojima has stated more than once it would not be possible to port that game to the 360 as-is because of the space limitations. And don't you think Konami would port that game if they felt they could considering the steep costs of production?

I'm not saying a good baseball game can't be made on a DVD based system. If all things were equal though and the same development team made two games, one for a DVD and one for a Blu Ray, the Blu Ray version would likely come out better.
