Hooking up PS3 to CPU Monitor (need help)

So I bought a cord with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other end. I hooked it up to my monitor (new samsung 19") and ps3 and tried to switch my display settings to DVI...but no luck.

Anyone else hook their ps3 up to a monitor like this? I can't figure out what I'm missing.

Thanks in advance!

I think your PS3 has to be set to HDMI before u connect it to an HDMI/DVI TV or monitor

try holding down the power button on the PS3 (while its on standby)

If that doesn't work, take your PS3 back to a regular tv, and go into the display settings and change it to HDMI.. save the settings, then bring it back to your monitor

Also make sure that your DVI input is HDCP compliant.

You mean making sure the monitor is HDCP compliant?

yes, your DVI port must be HDCP compliant to get a signal from the PS3 otherwise all you will see is a black screen.
