Personally, I like the idea of sliders, but I don't think the developers have the time to test sliders so they really don't work as intended.
On top of that, you literally need a sample size of a few hundred games to determine if the sliders are working.
I'm as guilty as anybody of having a slider dependency problem. They can actually ruin the game because if you move a slider and hit a HR or score a TD on a long run you wonder if you have made the game too easy.
Unfortunately at default, most sports games are broken.
