Is there a difference between being a achievement whore and a gamer?

Me, I play for both but I dont play anything and everything just for achievements. You know, like every arcade, every piss poor title. Granted, I did play Avatar and Hannah Montana. My daughter loves her, I said "You need help with that?" LOL

Seriously...

I know some gamers don't care for achievements, cool. But the one who play for both, whats your opinion on point whoring?

I used to not be into point whoring, but then I started to get addicted to it. Almost like trying to hold high scores at the arcade or something. I admit I look at some games to see what their achievements look like. I don't know why, just have a lot of fun and a great sense of accomplishment when the "achievement unlocked" pop up occurs.

Don't feel bad, I used to fall into this category with the 360 if you remember. LOL! Now I am doing it with the PS3 as I love the Trophy system better by preference. But stupid Sony still doesn't have a web site. I don't buy games like I used to anymore, so I try to play through what I have multiple times to get as many trophies as possible.

They really only do it for people that cheat on games like Halo and Gears of War 2 now, or for those who raise their score obscenely fast. The dumbest thing to do is use a gamesave that gets you online achievements without a timestamp.

I usually just play the game and the achievements come on their own. most games are set so if you just beat the game you'll get 80-100% of the achievements. there are a few that make you play multiple playthroughs, or make you play a lifetime online to get them all.

I wont go out of my way just to get an achievement though. I never got the achievement for playing a ranked game in NCAA '08 and '09. I never play ranked games in NCAA and not going to just to get an achievement.
