What's the best method for backing up your save data on a PS3? External hard drive?

You guys have me paranoid. I've had my 40GB for about 1.5 years now (I think).

Thanks.

I use a 8gb flash drive. Although alot of the game saves are not transferable.

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread

Gamestop is offering $150 trade-in credit on working consoles towards the purchase of a Slim.

Instead of ripping mine open and working on it, I figured a brand new Slim only costing $150 was worth it. I explained the problems I was having with my system but the clerk tested the system out and decided there weren't any problems with it, so needless to say I'm now the proud owner of a PS3 Slim.

Including shipping it was $78. It was not hard at all.

Thanks. My 60 GB is over two years old and this thread is making me nervous. I'm thinking gcshwent's plan is pretty good towarding trading toward a PS3 Slim.

couldn't you buy an as-is ps3 on ebay for $60-$100, then pay the $150 to sony to fix it and end up still paying less than if you bought it brand new?

Sure you could, but really that's no different than buying a refurbished PS3 in terms of warranty or price.

Re: PS3 Repair and/or Death Thread

Update status on my 4th refurb. Got it on Thursday night at it works better then my original 60 gb. Fans are nice and quiet, no stuttering or freezing, and it also DL'ed update 3.00 in record time!

So now I have a slim in the living room and a 60gb fatty in the bedroom....my poor wife. LOL
