And I have a question, does Craigslist have a feature where you could report a buyer that is misleading or selling a product that is disfunctional in some way and not making it known to the buyer? If so, try going that route to see if you can somehow recoup your money.

Ask the person for the "MAC" address Machine Access Code each PS3 has one, it is its finger print, the MAC is what sony uses to ID your console. You could probably then call Sony's customer svc and say hey, I'm trying to buy a PS3 off of Craiglist and I want to know if this system is in good standing or if its a banned console. I don't know the privacy issues they would have with it, but that would be my first avenue of approach.

I'm pretty sure they have a list of ban consoles with MAC as the identifying marker.

I sold my 360 and games. It more than covered the cost of the PS3. I made money on the deal.

Yeah...it's easy for me to say 100 bucks is nothing now, but I remember when I was in college and would have killed for a PS2 but couldn't afford one...100 bucks is a lot when you're a student or otherwise don't have a ton of cash.

Now I buy whatever games I want, think back to when you were a kid and got 4 or 5 games a year and that was if you saved up christmas/birthday money too.
