I'd be curious to see how many people with XBOXes and PS3s are actively playing games online. I doubt the number is very high, even in the heart of the internet age.

Re: EA: "Singleplayer is no longer the future"

I thought multiplayer was the future, but then I realized I don't really enjoy playing games with/against the random f***tards out there. Multiplayer's great when you have a solid group to play with, but randoms rarely talk/work as a team, and then you get the racist/sexist/homophobes and all that.

I enjoy multiplayer, but I personally enjoy a finely crafted singleplayer story that gets me involved deeply. You don't get that in multiplayer, it all ends up being deathmatches or CTF (except for co-op, but then you're just running a single player campaign with multiple guys).

I love playing Non-Sports Games online. But, Sports games I hardly ever play online. Dumb move though if they abandon the option for single player.

Another mindless move and comment from someone at EA.

I agree with the other posts in this thread. It's a ridiculous notion that single player games aren't the 'future'. I understand that online multiplayer is popular but many, many people including myself do not play online at all. If they go this route I won't be purchasing any of their games.

I dunno, I definitely think there is a single player crowd, but multiplayer is definitely the future. Look at games like MW2. Why do you think it will be the biggest selling game ever? Games like Forza 3 and Halo have seamless online integration.

I also doubt that the percentage of people who have a next-gen console without access to broadband is very large.

Same. A good online experience with your buddies is a great game. I've spent countless hours playing FIFA team-up online with OS'ers. It's a great experience.
