re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service

i bought a ps3 about a year ago on the fact that i can play for free if they start charging im going to be pissed. if they charge for early demos and stuff im fine with that because i hardly bother with demos any way but if they start charging for other features that has to do with playing online like party chat and stuff i might get annoyed but what can i do? if sony wants to charge us out the *** the same way microsoft does they can and will.

Think what you may, but I still doubt they will charge.

Well, Sony may have once downplayed the notion of "catching up" with Xbox Live, but it looks like it is now set to take at least one big cue from its rival. As oh-so-quietly revealed during a presentation on Thursday and now confirmed by Kaz Hirai himself, Sony will be adding a "premium level" subscription service to the PlayStation Network sometime next year. According to Hirai, that subscription will get you "premium content and services," although exactly what those are remains a bit unclear, as the current level of service will apparently remain free, and continue to include features like Facebook, Netflix, and the ability to play games online. Also up in the air is any word on a price or launch date, although the timing of the announcement does seem to suggest that we might just be hearing more about this at CES.
Happy now?

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service

Seems weird that we may have to pay a subscription fee to... purchase content.

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service

seems like a xbox gold account to me but the good thing is online play will remain free.... and if people do like the new update which is suppose to be a massive one then you could pay for it....

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service

If they'll offer more reliable servers (i.e. XBL) in this "premium level" subscription service, I'm all in.

I highly doubt this will happen. I think it belongs in the same camp as, "Sony is Getting Halo Soon."
