HDMI Or Component Cables For XBOX 360?

Does it make a huge difference in terms of picture? I currently use the cables that comes with my 360 and it has 2 sets I use the red, green and blue color because it shows better picture when playing games. I am just curious to know if HDMI wires makes a difference? Is it alot better?

No it is not! You will barely notice a difference. I just wasted my money on these cables last weekend thinking that the picture and sound would be far superior, but that's definitely not the case. It looks about the same as it did when I was using 1080i.

if you have the ability to use HDMI on your xbox then I don't see why you wouldn't, you get get cables from monoprice/ebay for about $2. Just don't buy into the whole monster cables, super high speed hdmi cables junk and you'll be fine.

What screen resolution do you guys have on your 360? Mine is set at 720. don't most games run on 720 and not 1080?

I think the only main advantage is you don't have cord clutter with the HDMI cable.

compared to what? My Xbox came with the red, yellow, and white AV cables that I've been accustomed to using for just about every system I've ever owned.

I think he's using component cables and wondering if HDMI will make a big difference. In terms of video, shouldn't be a big difference when playing games. If watching regular DVDs...yes. The 360 can upconvert DVDs via VGA or HDMI cables. No upconversion over component cables.

EDIT: You're talking to Raven. Agreed....you need to be using component or HDMI. Composite is the absolute last choice for connections.

You can go to your 360 dashboard and change your reolution settings to 1080p..or 1080i..I just got a 55 inch vizio lcd with 1080p resolution for my 360 and it makes a world of difference at least to me as compared to 720...

he won't have that option because he's using composite cables.

Here's the deal. I just got an Xbox360. At home I have an HDTV(not my TV, TV in the living room), in my dorm room at school and in my room at home I havea regular standard TV. I dont have the money to be buying a new TV right now, I just bought the XBox lol

I understand, but with the TV I have, I have no choice.

Yeah if you got a regular tv, you can ONLY you use composite cables. You dont even have an input jack for HDMI on a regular tv. And I doubt your mom will allow you to use the main home HDTV to play your games on.

Yeah I know. I've been playing on the HDTV, although with composite cables. Whats the cheapest you think I could get a small LCD HDTV? By small I'm talking like 20-22"-28" max. perhaps 30" if I can get it not a reasonable price...
