Do the new 360s have lower failure rates than the older models? I've heard the newer Elites are pretty much RROD proof but I'm thinking of just buying a 360 Arcade and using my HD from my dead 360. If I do this, can I expect to see the RROD again?

Buying a 360 again, need some advice
Hey guys. Long story short, after my first 360 got the RROD for the second time I am looking to buy a new one. A question though.

Far as I've heard yes the new ones are more reliable but you're covered for 3 years anyway. If you believe in 2012 there's nothing to worry about.
If you don't the next gen should be out by then and you'll be trading it in for the NeXbox.

Yeah the new models are more reliable. Kind of the same way as the later models of the PS2 were better then the 3000-1 series.Comment

I'm on my 4th now for awhile. I think it helps now that you can download your game to the harddrive. No longer sounds like a jet taking off when you do this so I guess it's easier on your xbox.My Teams

This, I download every game I play to my Harddrive. I have only had 1 Xbox RROD on me, I did get one stolen, and I sold a Pro to get a Elite. On the other hand, I have had two PS3 break on me, so I am part of the 1% who have had more PS3s break than XBox.
Personally, There are so many great deals for Elites, you cannot go wrong. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Buying a 360 again, need some advice
Well. More-so in Microsoft's case, I hope the quality of the hardware in the next-next gen systems is a bit more up to par.
At this point I might just buy a new 360 motherboard, as I expect if I buy a brand new 360 it will eventually crap out. If I bought an Elite motherboard would it work with the DVD drive from my dead 360? Or would there be problems there?Last edited by Matt23134; 01-17-2010, 12:46 AM.Comment
