Too funny. Sort of like cars only in the dealerships have A/C, but when you buy used at Carmax they don't have that feature. Way to go publishers.

they can keep coming up with schemes, but the used market exists for a reason. A person buying a game for $30 used or whatever may never have any interest getting the same game for $60.

Right now, DLC sales are a fine way to make some money off people who buy a game used.

This could really hurt Gamestop. Their stock price has taken a pounding lately as it is.

I don't totally mind if it means I get more for free for purchasing new...though it does suck for rentals

This exactly the way I look at used games. Why bother getting the game for 60$ when I can just get it for 30$? As long as it works, I'm fine. If it doesn't just take it back and get my money back.

It hurts the gaming companies too. If a company can't move more games they can't make more. By Gamestop focusing solely on selling used games - all the while ripping people off on trade in values compared to used sale prices - they are cutting out the bottom line from the developers. Games are expensive to create as it is and it'll be much harder for a game to get developed without the proper funding or sales from previous ventures. With less revenue, game companies are forced to go the route of DLCs and such to make up money lost, thus possibly shortchanging the customer on the initial installment of the game.

There are two sides to it all.
