My PS3 wont' read any game's or movies!!! any advice?

Minejust went out this morning. I don't want to pay sony $150 for this. I might buy a new laser on ebay for $50.

Make sure you get the right one. There are two different kinds depending what model you have.

I wonder if I should order the drive or just the lens, since my ps3 reads dvd and cds perfectly. The problem is only with bluray movies and games. Considering that the lens is cheaper to order as well.

If the disc spins, you don't need a new drive (mech). You just need the laser. If it doesn't spin at all, you need to buy the mech with laser.

I opened it today since I'm out of warranty and cleaned the laser to see if it would do the job, but no. It starts reading games but then it freezes after 5 minutes. It plays DVDs with no problem. I'm going to get it fixed, but I don't know if I should keep it or sell it after I fix it and get a slim
