Burning games to the 360 hardrive

Does anyone know what are the benefits of burning the 360 games to the hardrive?

I believe it's fast load times in games, the disc doesn't spin so this reduces heat in the console. I'm sure there is more, but others can answer this in more detail.

Re: Burning games to the 360 hardrive

for most games it improves loading times. but most of all, it's less heat/wear on the system since the disc doesn't have to spin.

you still have to have the disc to start the game though. it has to verify that you have the disc before the game will launch(unless it is a "games on demand" downloaded game).

Re: Burning games to the 360 hardrive

Another nugget: ever since I've burned games to the HDD I have yet to have another RROD - happened to me 7 times previously.

EDIT
Great! I've probably just jinxed myself!

Anyone else have this...

Since this update, it now just says play game for me, instead of play games from HDD (or whatever it said) the game is installed because it has the option of delete from HDD... I was just wondering why it doesn't say play from HDD anymore.

I dunno too much!

I think it was always automatic, so if the game was installed and you chose to just play it, it'll still run off the hard drive.

since the update for games I have installed, the dvd drive doesn't "Ramp up" as it's being used. so I'm fairly certain as long as the game is installed, it'll play off the hard drive.

I'll have to check it out. Before the update, I had to hit yellow and then select play from hard drive. If you didn't, it did use the CD. Hopefully it tries to play from the hard drive first.
