Switching hard drive on PS3?

Is it possible to switch hard drives from an old to a new PS3 and keep all of my saved data?

Basically, it's more along the lines of this: I downloaded the map packs on Call of Duty WaW, if I bought new would I be forced into buying those again?

Re: Switching hard drive on PS3?

As long as it's the same PSN account you can download it again.

As far as your first question, no. Anytime you insert a new HDD to a PS3 it will tell you it has to reformat it; no way around this.

Is your old PS3 broken? If you can still use it, I would deactivate the game and video accounts on PSN before switching to the new PS3.

It's done now for good. I did move some save files onto a flash drive so I can hopefully be fine in that respect.

Not that I can at this point, but why would you deactivate accounts?

You can only have your PSN account active on five different systems.
