Pretty much agreeing with what has already been posted. Always pays to hold off on the newest/most expensive tech--LED and 3DTV. They are only going to get better and cheaper. Definitely wouldn't touch 3DTV until they get some material released for it.

Plasma vs. LCD comes down to personal preference and if you have a lot of light (there are ways to control light--room darkening curtains, etc)

You'd really have to try and cause burn in. Like already mentioned, you'll get some image retention--but it goes away quickly.

I'm a plasma fan--cheaper, darker blacks, no motion blur, wider viewing angles.

My rule for buying a HDTV. Set your budget. Then get the biggest name brand tv within that budget.

Other things to consider: number of HDMI inputs, PC connection, USB connection.

Agreed--For a TV, I'd pay the difference and go with a major brand (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic...and on a budget Vizio)

The Insignia blu ray players are a good value.

Yep. With $600, I'd avoid a HTIB and buy separate pieces. You can get a very capable AVR for $250-300. Then your priorities are center channel > left and right fronts > sub >>>>>> rears.

Some would argue that the sub has a bigger effect and thus more important than your left and rights.

I think the one you linked is the G series which is their newest line. Might wanna just compare features see what you are getting.
Damn, that seems like a good deal on a very solid TV. I'm still plugging along with my little 24" HD monitor I got for college, but I am ready for something a bit more beefier.

I got one of these and I literally treat it like I want to. I play what I want, when I want, for as long as I want. Walk away with a static screen with no regards and have never had a problem with IR or Burn In. NEVER

They are VERY hard to find new now but if you do I would look at getting one. Absolutely LOVE the picture and durability.
