I just fixed my 60GB launch console yesterday and its running great. Im thinking of purchasing PS3's on ebay for pretty cheap that have the YLOD.....repair them and sell them for $150 each. (if backwards compatable)

It would be pretty sweet if i could start a YLOD PS3 repair business. There is probably already a few people that have done this. Maybe im just a little amped up on fixing my own console....lol

Been there done that if you did the whole re-paste repair. I was pretty excited when I repaired mine so I get the amp

Unless you're extremely lucky or a better fixer upper lol, it's only a temp fix. I also repaired a ylod 60gig ps3. It lasted about 2-3 weeks. I then tore it apart again and redid everything and used an even better heat paste and it didnt last any longer. Best of luck but I'd wait until you are sure the repair lasts or you'll be knee deep in re-working systems.

As long as it lasted long enough to get all of my save data im fine. I went out and bought a new slim within an hour of getting YLOD.

yep. Smart. I'd either sell it or trade in to EBGames while it was working

I fixed mine a couple of months ago when gamestop had the 200 dollar deal for any working ps3. Fixed it, traded it next day, and still trying to figure out what to use the 200 on :-) games, xbox, hmmm

So....Gamestop will take your PS3 even when the warranty seal has been broken?
