Well, that would be the "set top box" if it ever comes into NA.

Doesn't XBL have an app for ESPN 360? That's what the PS3 needs IMO.

Well, Sony helped develop Google TV, but the issue I see is Intel. This is designed to run on an Atom based package and Intel helped do a sizable part of the coding. Now, it's possible Sony worked this out long ago, when they were brought on board, but I can't imagine Intel being happy with the potential loss of STB sales.

Google TV is, for the most part, Android optimized for a TV.

Yeah, all of Sony TVs and Blu-Ray players have a Cell Processor in them. And the APP/OS whatever yo want to call it has been optimized for it. So only natural you will see it for the PS3. And the goals they have for the "set top box".

I am just wondering how this will effect the PSP2 and/or PS4. Wonder if Sony will still make its own OS/Dashboard, or have Google handle all of that in a partnership. And I know Google has been talking for years they want to make and OS for PCs and other machines to rival Windows. Interesting times ahead.

Sony's GoogleTV BD players and TVs have the Atom SoC.

They also contain Cell processors too. They have been for a couple years now.

Re: Google TV coming to PS3 Spring 2011?

I really don't think they do, makes no sense for them to because it would be expensive and redundant, but besides GoogleTV runs on the Atom. Having no idea what's under the hood of GoogleTV (aside from the android base) I can't say for certain how easy it would be for Sony to have the system ported to the Cell, I don't know what's exactly on the SoC and how deep the optimizations goes, though I would suspect it goes pretty deep as Intel designed the chip and the large portion of the code they wrote to go hand in hand. It would probably be easier for Sony to emulate the Atom SoC.

Edit: No Cell in sight: http://www.magicandroidapps.com/wiki...ogleTvTeardown

I wouldn't mind seeing this for the PS3. I have no need for a Sony Google TV currently because I have pretty much all the same functionality on my PS3. If that can be ported/brought over to the PS3 that would be great.
