    Gaming headsets

Does anyone have any experience with: turtle beach x31, turtle beach dx11, logitech f540, triton ax720 or xtactic?

I recently purchased the x31's, but if any of these can outperform these I will take these back. I would prefer these better sounding headset without any hissing.

I have the Xtactic (see below). I like them as they work for all three major gaming machines (PC, PS3 and the 360) and are very easy to set up.

The sound is top quality, really good.

    Negative = they were expensive.

I am on the move a lot...so having a portable digitial decoder etc is a massive plus for me. The surround sound is amazing for a head set.

I have the turtle beach x11's and don't hear any hissing at all. X11's are basically the wired version of the x41's.

I've got the Triton 720, very nice headset. They sound awesome, the mic is good, and they're comfortable even during lengthy gaming sessions. They price is reasonable IMO and I would buy them again if I was looking for a headset.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I have the x31's and I have zero hissing at all. The white wire that connects the headset to the controller is screwed up and sometimes gives a cracking noise but other than that - I have no issues with my Beaches.

          I love them.

Tritton AX720's are the one's that I use. Great set but for extended use it sometimes can get uncomfortable.

These. I also LOVE that the mic is removeable.

You would think by now consoles would come with a good mic...........The mic that the xbox 360 comes with is a piece of crap, seriously. It was almost as bad as the ones that came with Socom Navy Seals back on the PS2. That game was the 1st game I ever used a mic on LOL.

LOL.... That was my first gaming mic to. When I first got it I thought that mic was amazing. It didn`t take long to realize how bad it really was.

                    Re: Gaming headsets

Okay guys, thanks! I did a lot of research and have decided to go with the DPX21's. I thought they were for PS3 only, but after some digging and looking at them at BB, I realized that they are for ALL systems.

They also have more options than the DX11's, which are comparable and come in black and silver with reinforced speaker casing. I still wish I could directly compare them to the AX720's, but from what I have read AX720's do not have the extra bass control that the Turtle Beach DPX21's have.

So far, I really like the set that I have chosen. Great all around headsets.

I have Tritton AX Pro's, the AX720s are very similar and I can vouch for both being awesome headsets. Also unfortunately I've had to deal with Tritton for warranty issues with my AX Pro's but they were extremely easy to deal with, got to talk to a person immediately, they took care of everything extremely promptly and could not have handled it any better.

I have a Razer Carcharias that I use with my PC (not compatable for PS3/360 though). It feels awesome. Most comfortable headset I've ever had. Sound is great too, but I haven't messed much with voice on it.

I got it because my monitor speakers aren't that loud and didn't want to set up speakers for the PC in my living room near the couch. Works great so I can play WoW and other games and still have sports or whatnot on the tv...

Anyone have the Astro A40s? I'm moving into an apartment this weekend, so I doubt I'll be able to use my surround sound at any decent volume level anymore.

Also, can you plug any of these units into a cable box if you wanted to watch TV with the sound coming through the headphones?

                            Re: Gaming headsets

Well most gaming headsets have the standard red and white plug for audio so you can just plug it into the back of your tv external speaker's jack. So basically don't matter if you playing a game or watching tv, sound will come out the head set.

Far as living in an apartment, depends on how well insulated the walls are, my friend in chicago live in an apartment with really thick walls so he can have his surround system cranked up high. You don't even hear it in the hall way at all, but soon as you open up that door and step in, I was like WTF you got it on MAX ? LOL

I think he was playing Uncharted at the time.

Hey, I am looking to get a headset for the PS3 so that I can talk with some of my friends when I play on PSN. What headset should I get and what price range does that fall in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
