Is the EB Games scratch warranty worth it?

Just wondering if you guys pay the extra $2 or $3 when you buy a game at EB for the scratch protection. I usually always buy it, but have only ever used it once and that was for GTA San Andreas because my old Fatty PS2 started to malfunction and scratched it all up. Thinking back i've probably spent $100 or so over the past 10 years on this, while only benefitting once. Every time I go buy a game I tell myself I won't buy it, but then I do, thinking hey its only a couple of bucks, but in the long run probably getting ripped off. Do you guys by the scratch warranty?

I usually buy most games online, but on the occasions where I do buy from best buy or gamestop, no. I always keep my games in perfect condition, either sitting in the console or the case. If I had kids around or let friends borrow my games a lot, then it might be worth it if they often became scratched. But I don't have to worry about that

I voted no because I don't buy anything from EBgames or gamstop. I stopped years ago thanks to Good old Mom and Pops stores.

I voted no. If you're old enough to purchase a game (not you, just in general), you should know how to handle one. Now, your system ruining it is a different story...but I play the odds anyways. Just keep your stuff clean and you shouldn't need it. Save that 2 bucks, because it does add up.

Well in terms of PS3 games, blu-rays don't really scratch at all (they have that protective coating). I almost laugh when they ask.

For 360 games, I'd concur with the above post: take care of your stuff and it's not an issue.

No, unless you have kids or something and afraid to risk it. The only time a game for me didn't work because of scratches was when I tried to play FFX, disc was about 10 years old and was without it's case in a cabinet.

It's pretty easy to take care of discs even if you just let it sit out of it's case near the console, which I have a tendency to do lol

Yeah, I can definitely vouch for the bluray protective coating... Few years ago I had a recalled disc to a Blu ray movie (Pirates of the Carribean) and before sending it in to disney for the exchange, I tried keying the surface to see if really worked as advertiesed. No scratches. Amazed.

Video games stores are becoming outdated, largely because of silly charges like these and rip-off trade in policies.
