Re: Playstation 4 Development Underway

I think there is a huge excuse with the need for new consoles now when they could really hone their skills and bring great experiences to the consoles out now. I look at Red Dead Redemption, Splinter Cell: Conviction, L.A. Noire, and see new takes on gaming. That's what these whiny developers need to do instead of trying to force something that isn't ripe for the moving. Let all this new stuff start 2015. I personally think Sony should come out last again with a stronger financial foundation with their PS3. They could reduce the costs of producing the newest systems. Honestly, I'd probably end up getting the PS3 because of their superior first-party games. I'm definitely eager to see what E3 brings about.

Re: Playstation 4 Development Underway

It's a fine line between getting it out first, and making sure it'll still be just as competitive as something that comes out a year or two later.

I've always thought that the 360 got a really big headstart because it came out first. Because XBOX wasn't the big thing to have on the last generation, that was the PS2. Suddenly, the 360 is the cool thing to have. Me, being the super cool person I am, had an XBOX and now a PS3.

They can release it whenever they want, but I won't bite until about 2 years later. It's really not worth it to get it on release. They're still figuring it out for the first 1 to 2 years, not to mention the price. The PS3 is still "new" to me, can still get a ton out of it.

a lot of people seem to understand it that way, but it never meant that.

It's always been PR speak to ease some minds about buying a $400 console every 6 years or so. Who the hell really cared about ps2 games released in 2009 though?

Re: Playstation 4 Development Underway

I'm curious as to what game developers think about this. Doesn't it cost like $60 million to make an AAA title on the Xbox 360 and PS3? I can't imagine the price tag of making a game for a new system.

The one big disappointment of this generation is that it appears we're getting less sports titles because of the licensing and development costs.

Same here. I just want every game to have 3d grass next generation of consoles. Thats my graphical want. Realistic 3d grass as well as amazing view and detail distances. Those 3 additions will make any world feel a lot more alive.
