Nintendo Servers Hacked

Nintendo reveals its servers were hacked a few weeks ago

Quote:
On the eve of some big announcements at E3, Nintendo reveals its servers were hacked a few weeks ago.

Nintendo says that its servers were targeted in an online attack, but also says that no customer information was accessed or stolen. Nintendo claims the attack came a few weeks ago, but declined to offer more details on timing.

"There were no third-party victims. But it is a fact there was some kind of possible hacking attack," said Nintendo spokesperson Ken Toyoda said earlier today. ""We are always working to make sure our systems are secure."

Claiming responsibility, the hacker group commonly known as **** Security (also known as ****sec) is claiming responsibility. To authenticate its claims, the group posted the contents of what it claims is a Nintendo config file at Pastebin. On the ****Sec Twitter page, the group clarified some of its intentions: "We're not targeting Nintendo. We like the N64 too much - we sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap. This is just for ****. <3"

The attack on Nintendo comes on the heels of far more serious assaults on Sony. This marks the first time Nintendo has been the subject of such attacks. We have contacted Nintendo for comment, and will update if we hear anything in return.

WOW, this is getting crazy. Is MS next?

I mean these hackers are pretty lame, hack an ATM or something like that. Not gaming servers.

Re: Nintendo Servers Hacked

Maybe a few certain individuals will start realizing this isn't "all Sony's fault" now. Or are we still sticking up for the hackers?

While I hate what the hackers have caused us I actually think this might help the gaming world. This will teach companies to make their systems and information more secure. So i think these hacks will have a positive outcome sooner or later. They will stop when the companies secure their servers.

Re: Nintendo Servers Hacked

God dammit, hackers. Go after the 360 or something. I don't have one of those.
