Gaikai emerges as Sony acquisition frontrunner

I swear there was a leak where some cloud-based company said next gen gaming would be cloud-based instead of physical. I want to say it was someone from Gaikai, but not sure.

Almost. He said that there wouldn't even be consoles next gen due to cloud based PC Gaming, which IS a laughable statement. Consoles offering digital, cloud, and physical media is a very real possibility though, and offers something for everyone.
