Re: Disk consoles are not necessary anymore

Maybe for countries like USA that'd be fine, but in Canada, an average internet package has a 120GB monthly usage limit, so no way people can regularly get games that way....

I believe some other places like Australia have monthly usages too.

Sorry I can't go with the discless bull. This just give companies more control over the customers if we allow them to force us into it. I for one love my games to be disc form. Because you never know when online can go down and they be come useless and not able to access them. Sorry this is something I will not do for very long time to come. I love my freedom to much. Game companies will not suck me in that is for sure.

So instead of games installing from the disc, you'd be installing from a flash drive? That's...curious.

I want to go digital, I really do. But when it's $60 either way, I'm going to stick with the one I can trade in later.

And then it seems as though Amazon often has sales for discs a few weeks after release whereas the digital games don't seem to go on sale very often. It's a no-brainer for me to stick with discs until they give me some financial incentive to go digital. But I'm eagerly awaiting that incentive.

The Steam sales are amazing. With games the same price either way on consoles, I agree with you.

What if places like amazon sell you codes and that unlocks the games? They can also sell the codes at a cheaper price than the actual disks.

Re: Disk consoles are not necessary anymore

I'd be swayed to more to go all digital IF the digital games I buy could carry seamlessly to the next console.
Even then the games need to be cheaper than disk based. Otherwise , like Wolf said, I would want the disk to trade in or sell later.

So instead of buying disks we're buying flashdrives for 60 bucks. What is the point of that?

Only way going all digital will be remotely acceptable (negate the internet issues, data caps, accessibility, DRM bull****) is if those prices came down significantly and those publishers would never want that to happen.
