I haven't used my PS3 in long time but didn't you have to choose wireless or wired connection in the menus? Could this be the issue on your PS4
From what I can see the choice to use the LAN or the WIFI is part of the PS4 Connection setup which I am already going through. Another possibility in play here is maybe the PS4 does require us to go through a router that the PS3 didn't. If anyone can confirm this, that would be great.

My PS4 is wired. No issues. Maybe start your PS4 in safe mode then reset to factory settings and reboot...??

Other than that I have no idea.

Did that already ... are you directly connected to your cable modem? or are you going from a modem, through a router and then on to your PS4?

That's probably what I am missing then. I am guessing I need to go through a router for the PS4. Sony must have added an extra level of security on the PS4 that was not required for the PS3. If someone can confirm this, that would be appreciated. But thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

I wouldn't think you'd have to go through a router....You should be able to go through cable modem just fine. Lots of people don't have routers and just manually switch between PCs and consoles....

Re: PS4 LAN Connect Problems

Problem solved. Once I added a router into the equation all of a sudden I was able to connect with the ethernet LAN wire. Thanks to those who contributed their two cents to helping me resolve this issue.

Next up ... MLB 14 The Show for the PS4 ... wait a second it's not Tuesday yet.

Re: PS4 LAN Connect Problems

Wasn't there a problem with PS4s at launch that caused you not to be able to connect wired. The fix was to take something (knife or something) and bend a metal piece in the ethernet slot back up into the default place. That should fix your issue.

Edit: Nevermind. Lol.
