External HD XboxOne

I just purchased an external HD for my Xbox One. Generally, i only play Madden, but i do purchase games here and there to fiddle with.

My plan was to move all games not in use to the external HD and leave the current Madden on the console.

I was excited, about getting it set up, and in all the hubub i moved all game including madden over. The game seemed to play fine for the 5 minutes i had to mess around.

Are there any disadvantages I need to be made aware of if i just keep it as is? Will i suffer performance loss playing Madden from the external?

Keep it the way it is because you may actually see a minor improvement in load times and such with the games residing on the external. The USB 3.0 has a faster transfer rate than the internal HDD does (SATA II).

Re: External HD XboxOne

well, right on then, i'll give it a shot. i kept seeing the light flicker on the external every time something on the field was happening, made me wonder if the rate of data transfer was being hindered.

thanks.

Re: External HD XboxOne

did you have to format the drive before putting connecting it to the XBONE? Or did you just connect it and the XBONE formatted it?? I have my old 500gb ps4 HD in a USB 3.0 enclosure that Im thinking of using for the XBONE..
