    PS4 Whine and freezing?

I’m not sure this is the right forum for this. I bought a refurbished PS4 from GameStop one year ago. Lately, I get this whine sound from the rear on the left side. Someone said it was the hard drive. When it gets loud, the game freezes. If I move the console around the sound stops and everything goes back to normal. I’ve gone into safe mode and tried everything there. Nothing makes the issue stop. The freezing is annoying.

Any ideas what that might be & is this a hopeless case?

If it is just the hard drive, just buy another laptop hard drive and put it in. I personally think it is your fan and heat sink fins that are clogged. Take your PS4 apart, remove the internal power brick and blow out the heat sink fins and fan with compressed air. But hey it is cheap and very easy to do both really. You can get a 1TB laptop HDD off Amazon for $45 nowadays.

I’ll give that a try. The other symptom I see is the system get really hot quickly. I’ll give it a cleaning and see if that helps.

Pop off the top and make sure there is not a bunch of dust in there. I clean mine 3 times a year. I use a vacuum with a soft brush.
