Re: Stadia / Streaming

For a Google services announcement it was a bit of a letdown that we got the more traditional 'coming in 2019' instead of something being available sooner/now.

Re: Stadia / Streaming

Until most of the US has super reliable/fast internet with NO DATA CAPS, this is never going to work. You will burn through a month of data in a day.

What qualifies as 'most' of the US? Innovation is only for the lowest common denominator?

I do agree and don't think they have to code for people with horrible internet.

My concern will be data caps (as it is with the thought of cutting cable). I have a 1TB cap we don't hit now ever, but were I to cut cable or do this then it could happen. I think I can pay 30 or 40 for unlimited bandwidth, but then that's added cost towards gaming or tv.

This is my feeling as well...at least give us a date or some pricing or something.

Re: Stadia / Streaming

I cut the cord and only stream now. I have a 1 TB limit and have never gone over 650 gigs in any given month. We are not super heavy TV watchers, but adding this and I would assume we would fly by that in no time.

I believe I saw that 1 hour of gaming at 4k/60 would chew through like 20 gigs an hour.

Re: Google Streaming / Console

We cut the cord also, pay a $50 premium for no data cap, use nearly 2TB/mo as a family of 6.

I don't think we're an edge case, and more ISP competition may be coming w/ the 5G rollout. Bring on the future.

Re: Google Streaming / Console

Interesting. I live right outside Chicago and unlimited is not even an offered option. We have two ISPs and both Cap at 1tb with heavy penalties for going over.

That is crazy and where I live I had a 1 TB limit and so if 20 GIGS per hour that would mean only like 50 hours to get to the limit and that like dont included watching tv and such. Also where I live I dont think you can get unlimited data and to get more than 1 TB I think you have to pay a lot.
