Re: Lefthanded hitters

If i were you I'd look into guys who were switch hitters. This allows for more flexibility when playing the field.

Neil Walker is a guy I'd look at (personal Pirates bias)

He's slow on defense, so I don't like starting him in the outfield, but Dickerson is great in pinch-hit situations.

Re: Lefthanded hitters

Does it matter if you are a righty with high RH contact/power vs a right handed pitcher or would a left handed batter with similar contact numbers be better

Shane Spencer has been my poor man solution so far. Decent ratings on both sides of the plate. He's super slow though.

Tell me about it, he made 3 errors for me in a game last night in left field by the 3rd inning and I benched him. It wasn't his slowness, he just literally kept having the ball bounce off his glove on easy fly balls. He's already got a terrible fielding rating, and apparently playing them at a secondary position (LF instead of RF) makes their fielding ratings 20% worse, so I was kinda playing with fire I guess. I'll probably end up selling him, as I haven't really had much luck hitting with him either.

Well for me, I've had like 3,000+ AB's as a lefty in RTTS and I got so used to mashing righties as a lefty, I will probably always hit better as a lefty against a righty just because of the way I see the ball (I'm a lefty in real life as well). But from a pure ratings standpoint, a righty who can hit righties really well shouldn't be any worse than a lefty who can hit righties really well.

Re: Lefthanded hitters

There is a general lack of top players that bat left-handed in baseball right now. Especially when you compare it to ten years ago or so.

Trout, Stanton, Cabrera, McCutchen, Abreu, Tulo, Goldy, Bautista, etc. Seems like all the very top tier guys are righties.
