High rated players not worth it?

I don't play much online so let me ask: Does the game match up players with equally-skilled teams or is there some other criteria it uses when searching? In other words, it is matching your Legend/Diamond team up with other Legend/Diamond teams and then Silver with Silver?

Matchups are based on ratings. If matchmaking were based on lineups some folks would probably bench their good players so they could get a favorable matchups and then bring them into the game. Not sure if it's still the case but MUT had this problem.

Idk if they are considered high rated anymore but gio Gonzalez and Doug foster are horrible

Let me know how many complete game shutouts you pitch on Legend difficulty versus any team with Garrett Richards. Just the very thought of that seems pretty daunting.

You are basically saying that ratings don't matter, right? I'm just trying to clarify.
