Is there a way to Avoid this?

So last night I played a game of DD, had my Lefty Chris Sale pitching with 1B Rizzo (lefty thrower), My opponent got Trout on first base twice and would take a leadoff step, when I would throw to first for a pickoff instead of Trout diving back to the bag he went on to run off to 2nd BUT when Rizzo gets the ball from the pickoff attempts he doesn't throw it fast enough to 2nd, he lob throws it. So of course he successfully stole 2nd each time.


So what I'm asking is if there's a way to make your first basemen not lob throw it when something like this happens?

I remember playing one guy several times last year and he would do this when a man was on 2B. What usually worked for me was to attempt the pickoff and then cancel the throw. More times than not the runner will take off while your pitcher still has the ball and you can either run after the runner or throw to second provided you aren't snake bitten by this year's unpredictable animations.

What button cancels your throws or fakes it?

Press the same button again. Make sure you have throw canceling enabled.
