DD Rating system

I am a little confused about the DD rating system. I looked at my "points awarded" after I played a game and it went from 1361 to 1376 getting a +15. I was thinking that that was my ranking for awhile and so if I played someone with a points score of just over 1000 I thought they were ranked higher, however now realizing that winning a game and getting a +15 makes my number bigger I realize that it is not my ranking. What is this number in actuality and how should I be reading it?

1376 is your rating, the higher the better. 2000+ is the top division, 1800+ is the second division
