Question about the Cs on DD cards

I assume they have something to do with the captains, but I couldn't find out exactly what they mean, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first C means he's eligible for Donaldson. The next C means he's eligible for the next captains bonus, and so on

Yeah, they are in the same order as the captains screen and are color coded to match the captains color.
