It doesn't. Lineup regeneration gives you your best lineup regardless of captain mission requirements.

It should give you the option to:

a) generate best lineup
or b) generate best lineup that meets captain requirements

Re: Measuring Captain Progress

I've noticed that I am racking up XP much faster under the Hosmer captaincy, than with Donaldson. It seems that when I have all 9 positions filled by 6'4" and up guys, there is a larger end of game XP.

I think it has to do with no pitchers, that I have seen, have the Donaldson captain "C" highlighted on their cards. I've put pitchers with 75+ clutch on the team, without any effects. Maybe it only accounts for batting clutch. If so, then ranking Donaldson will be much slower than any other captain, since you can only have a maximum of eight players that meet his criteria on the field at any time.

I don't think XP is tied to Captain missions. I think Captain missions only go towards earning tickets.

XP is tied to captains mission. I went from 21 to 28 on Hosmer just by doing the 25 player team missions. 5000xp everytime you collected the 25 player mission. It does apply.

No he meant you don't get extra XP from having people of 6'4 in your lineup with Hosmer as your captain. You get the same amount of XP as that exact lineup with Donaldson as your captain

I dont know about that theory either cause I have been doing both Hosmer and Donaldson and my 6'4 everybody lineup makes a lot more than my normal DD lineup. I have noticed the difference.
